sport specific training

For the recreational or competitive athletes

Sport specific training is simply a fitness program designed to improve your performance and enjoyment of a particular sport. Even if you don’t think of yourself as an athlete, you can increase your enjoyment of a particular past time or prepare to take up a new hobby by implementing sport specific training.

Sport specific training can increase your:

  • Speed
  • Quickness
  • Agility
  • Power
  • Endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Reduce injuries

“Being a serious cyclist for the past 10 years, I spent most of my training hours on my bike. General health concerns associated with aging such as loss of bone and muscle mass, decreased flexibility and various aches and pains lead me to consult Marilyn and start strength training. Not only do I feel better with less pain and fatigue, my cycling has improved. I'm able to ride longer with more power and stamina. Greater core strength and stability has eliminated lower back pain and improved my posture and balance. I'm back to racing my bike and holding my own against much younger contenders, but most importantly, I feel I can continue riding for years to come and welcome the challenge of long rides with lots of hills.” – Lori Smith, MD, Masters Cyclocross, Mountain and Road Race

"The coaching I received from Marilyn was on par, and in some cases better, than the coaching I received at USC, the same coaching that was being given to current and past Olympians. " -- Sam Masson, USC Record Holder
